Public Health England issue heat warning for area

THURROCK Residents are being warned about searing heat expected in the East of England for Tuesday, July 19.

Public Health England has issued a heat health warning as the Met Office has forecast temperatures of 31°C in Thurrock with Wednesday expected to hit similar heights of 28°C.

Dr Angie Bone, head of extreme events from PHE, said: "Much of the advice on beating the heat is common sense and for most people there’s nothing to really worry about.

"But for some people, such as older people, those with underlying health conditions and those with young children, summer heat can bring real health risks.

"This summer we’re urging people to keep an eye on those at-risk and if you’re able, offer help to stay cool and hydrated."

In addition the Met Office has declared a Level 2 heat health risk to signify that the temperatures will be above a threshold for two days and the intervening night.

A spokesman said of tomorrow’s forecast: "Dry, hot and humid across much of the region, with long periods of strong sunshine.

"Highest temperatures to the west, with cooler and breezier conditions developing along the coast."
