Senior League Cup

Second Division outfit Ryan blew away Newham United, unloading five times without reply. Ashley Brown rifled home a hat-trick with Robert Mensah and Jose Claudio also scoring. A Josh Thompson brace means Hutton are also through as they beat Leytonstone United 2-0. Roydon also go through thanks to a double from Darren Williams, which cancels out Jack Skinner’s goal for Broomfield, seeing them through via a 2-1 win. Liam Sewell also scores twice for Runwell Sports, with Maada Kagbanda adding a further goal, in a 3-0 victory over Debden Sports. Toby knock out Great Baddow with a 1-0 win. Ashley Daniels gets on the Sungate score sheet but Galleywood score thrice as Jared Cousins, Craig Skipper and Thomas Watling all find the target in the 3-1 victory. Ongar Town also crash out after a 3-1 defeat at Shenfield AFC. Luke Williamson, George Cunningham and the goal machine that is Billy Texeria, all notch strikes. Jake Clarke was the scorer of the Ongar consolation.

Premier Division

Harold Wood Athletic are the early leaders of the Premier Division after they registered a 2-0 win at Springfield. Dan Gillard and Jordan Tolan scored the goals that maintain Wood’s perfect start to the campaign. Premier Division champions Kelvedon Hatch started their campaign with a 2-1 win at Buckhurst Hill. Mike Daniels, who scored 21 times last season for Hatch, wasted no time in starting his tally for the new season however Hatch were a bit fortunate to secure all the points as their other goal was in adversely scored by a Buckhurst Hill player. Jermain Hughes scores a brace for Bishops Stortford Swifts as they overcome Harold Hill in a seven goal thriller. Tom Prendergast and Jack Sawyer score the other Swifts goals in their 4-3 away success. Shane Wallace scores for Frenford Senior with Tommy Phillips doing likewise for Canning Town in their 1-1 draw. A first half header from Stefan Nielson gives Hannakins Farm the lead against Manford Way who go on to equalise in the second half via Suley Zuhdu. Rayleigh Town post their first win of the season against local rivals White Ensign. Mike Shelley and Harley Kee score the goals that secure the win. White Ensign now foot the table having lost both of their opening two fixtures. May and Baker E.C. found themselves trailing 2-0 to Leigh Ramblers, with both goals coming via Jack O’Connor. Richard Oxby started the fight back with a great finish to pull one back. James Barlow then lobbed the Leigh keeper to draw the scores level. Jamie Reddington , who had earlier had a penalty saved, went on to score the winner with a long range shot that sailed past the keeper.

Division One

Basildon Town opened their league campaign with a convincing 8-3 victory over Old Chelmsfordians Four goals were scored in each half with Marcus Bowyers claiming two of them. Roy Murnane, Chris Charlery, Jack Main, Ben Smith, Alex Smith and Charlie Kendall also notched strikes. Ben Polley bagged a hat-trick for Old Chelmsfordians but that almost pales into insignificance due to the fire power Basildon Town unleashed on their defence. Old Southendian meanwhile are the early season markers after their 2-0 win over Snaresbrook places them at the top of the table.

Division Two

A Mark Pope brace plus a Lee Palmer strike help Rochford Town register their first win of the season as they beat Old Barkabbeyans 3-0. Benfleet also post their first win of the campaign with a 2-0 home success over FC Hamlets. Ben Lambert and Chris Carr score the Herongate Athletic goals against Ramsden Scotia but the points are shared as Jamie Auvache and Tony Hollis level the scores with a header and a free-kick to earn their side a point.

Division Three

Rayleigh Town Res. opened their Division Three account against the team that piped them to the Division Four title last term. Goals from Ricky Gill, Joe Pyne and George Vile made sure the points went Rayleigh’s way as they run out 3-1 winners. Old Chelmsfordians score a consolation through Joe Scannell. Hutton Res. register a 3-0 win over Brentwood Town Res. Harold Wood Res. also score three times in their match with May & Baker E.C. Res. but it’s the visitors who leave with all the points as they go on to win the game 4-3. George Fairhead scores the Frenford Senior Res. goal in a 1-1 draw with Westhamians, who reply via Jack Lapite.
