FA Vase

Canning Town caused an upset on Saturday after they beat Southend Manor to reach the First Round of the FA Vase for the first time in their history. The game ended goalless after normal time and remained goalless during the thirty minutes of extra-time. With the reply option not taken up, meant that the game then went to penalties. Canning Town went on to win the penalty shootout 5-4 as Julian Edwards, Billy Field, Paul Henry, Mark Argent and Chris Barratt held their nerve to slot home their penalties. Canning Town’s first win in the Vase was then assured when Nick Wilson saved the final penalty kick to move his side into the First Round Proper.

Premier Division

Hannakins Farm remain top of the division after a 4-1 victory over Harold Hill. Jamie Hart scored twice with the other goals coming from Luke Eatwell and Anthony Aylett. Bishops Stortford Swifts raced into a 2-0 lead at Springfield but the hosts pulled one back from 16 year old Ryan Cullerton and then got themselves back on level terms via Adam Vyse. Swifts however then went on to score again to win the game 3-2. The Swifts marksmen were Tom Prendergast, Getro Kilapi and Jermain Hughes. May & Baker E.C. are up to fourth after a 3-2 win at White Ensign. The visitors may have had a lot of possession, even taking the lead from a Jamie Reddington strike but this was subsequently disallowed.

However White Ensign stung their visitors twice on the break and went in at half-time two goals to the good thanks to goals from Wightman and Skinner. May & Baker pulled one back early in the second half after good link up play between Conor Okus and Bezmir Hoxhaj ended up with a White Ensign player turning the ball into his own net. Kiel Chandler then equalised when he latched onto James Barlow’s cross to rifle the ball home. Jamie Reddington then won the game for the Dagenham-based club by beating two men before slotting the ball past the keeper. Manford Way overcome Rayleigh Town 2-1 courtesy of goals from Pete Tyler and Julian Lloyd which cancelled out Chris Brown’s effort for Rayleigh.

Ryan Lowe and Luke Read meanwhile scored the Leigh Ramblers goals in a 3-2 defeat at Buckhurst Hill who see Yemy Adelani grab a hat-trick. Frenford Senior and Kelvedon Hatch share a point apiece after their clash ends in a 1-1 draw. Lewis Bartrip nabbed the Frenford goal, while Kelvedon Hatch score their goal through Daniel Tapper.

Division One

Basildon Town lead the Division One after another fine goal scoring display against Hutton on Saturday. Jordan Williams scores the solitary Hutton reply. Catholic United sit in second place after a 1-0 win at London APSA with Dom Binns being the solitary goal scorer. Great Baddow’s 6-2 win over Old Chelmsfordians saw the goals each being scored by a different player. Joe Nathanson, Jack Mead, Grant Hill, Naveen Arain, Ashley Cole and Elliott Armstrong all had success in front of goal and the win moves them up to fourth. Billy Texiera is always likely to score goals and he did so again for Shenfield AFC at Snaresbrook. George Cunningham and Alex Broadbridge also scored for Shenfield but Snaresbrook gained all the points as they went on to win the game 4-3. Galleywood record a 3-1 win over Runwell Sports with Craig Skipper (2) and Jamie Ricks scoring the Galleywood goals. Aaron Rix nets the Runwell goal. Meanwhile it’s a point each for Newham United and Old Southendian after a 1-1 draw.

However Sungate had the better chances with Steven Harding being the man who scored the decisive goal midway through the first half. The win moves Sungate to the top of the table, while Toby drop down to second. Ryan drop down to third after a 5-2 humbling at Lakeside. Quinton notched a hat-trick with Kazanti rifling home the other two. Ashley Brown and Aaron Ryan scored the Ryan replies. Upminster remain pointless after a 3-0 defeat at FC Hamlets. Ongar Town record their first win of the season after Josh Allen and Jake Clarke score their goals in a 2-1 win over Benfleet. Kane Turner made a goal scoring debut for Old Barkabbeyans and is joined on the score sheet by Ryan James. However Ramsden Scotia score twice themselves via Jamie Auvache and a Dave Hollis penalty.

Division Three

Ricky Gill scores twice for table toppers Rayleigh Town Res. who go on to beat Westhamians 4-1 as Lee Pyne and Alex Witham also find the target. Westhamians score their goal in calamitous circumstances after a high cross into the box is spilled by the Rayleigh keeper and ends up crossing the line. Hutton Res. move up to second after a 6-0 win over Frenford Senior Res. May & Baker E.C. Res. move up to third after a 5-0 win over Roydon. Debden Sports drop down to fourth after they are beaten 3-1 at Harold Wood Athletic Res. John Offi (2) and Michael Burton score the Harold Wood goals while Debden’s consolation is scored by Matt Curtis. Dean Murray and Jordan McGrath are the Broomfield scorers in a 4-2 defeat at Shoebury Town. . Elliott Walker nets a hat-trick for Old Chelmsfordians Res. who beat Leytonstone United 4-2.
