THE LEADER of Thurrock Council has set the record straight on why a number of recent meetings have been relatively short.
Wednesday night’s Cabinet meeting of the ruling Conservatives was just 26 minutes long.
A recent full council meeting was just under 90 minutes long (They usually last between 2 and a half to three hours).
Some would say that it may be an efficient use of time. But others have expressed frustrations that “democracy and accountability” is being squeezed out.
Both councillors and members of the public have said that they have found a number of difficulties when they submit questions to the relevant department for council meetings.
Cllr Gledhill took time at the meeting to explain the “light agendas”.
