ESSEX Firefighters were called to a fire in the bedroom of a ground floor flat in Eden Green, South Ockendon.
When crews arrived at 1am (Wednesday) they reported the flat was completely full of smoke and the bedroom was on fire. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and managed to stop it spreading to any other room in the flat. Crews left the scene at 2am.
The bedroom has been completely destoryed by the fire, and the rest of the flat has been left badly smoke damaged.
The fire did not affect any other flat.
An investigation will be carried out to establish the cause of the fire.
