ON Wednesday 8 March 2017, Essex Chambers of Commerce hosted a Trading Places Networking Dinner at The Holiday Inn, Basildon. Over 70 people attended the event which was a twist on the usual networking events most people go to, as you changed tables for each course of the dinner, ensuring you met as many people as possible.
The event was attended by businessmen and women from all over Essex with the highlight of the evening being an extremely touching and motivational after dinner speech from Scott Hann, Olympic Gymnastic Coach and 19 year old Brinn Bevan, Olympic Team Member and World Medallist.
Denise Rossiter, Chief Executive of Essex Chambers of Commerce said, “It was fantastic to see such a variety of businesses attend this event organised by our recently opened Basildon Office. Scott and Brinn certainly made everyone think about what you can achieve if you believe in yourself and ensure you have the positive mind-set to succeed. This can be applied to both businessmen and women personally but also to their business”.
Essex Chambers of Commerce is the home of business right across the county helping businesses from SME’s through to national and international companies to succeed with offices currently in Colchester, Southend, Thurrock & Basildon. The aim of the Chamber is to focus on three essentials to help business grow in Essex and beyond:-
International Trade – Essex has major connections with the rest of the world through its’ ports and airports. Our International Trade team can help businesses make the most of them by helping identify overseas markets, providing training, simplifying documentation processing and preferential foreign exchange rates.
Business Support – whether it is by attending one of our networking events across the county, our business exhibitions, promoting your business through our electronic newsletters, HR support, online health and safety support, we can help support you and your business.
Campaigning/Lobbying – We communicate with politicians and policy makers at levels of government on a regular basis and represent our members on a number of organisations throughout Essex. We regularly take our members to meet Ministers and MPs at Westminster and through our links to the British Chambers of Commerce we truly are the voice of business in Essex.
