SPECIALISTS from the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) will be at the Civic Offices in New Road, Grays, once a month to offer help and advice to ex-servicemen and women.
SSAFA will be available to speak with veterans who may need help and support every second Tuesday of the month between 10am and noon at the New Road offices.
Brian Turner, a caseworker from SSAFA, said: “So many ex-servicemen and women – or their families – need support and do not realise how SSAFA can help relieve stress or sort out problems.
“Sadly many veterans are still unaware they are entitled to support for themselves, their wives, husbands, partners and dependent family members from the day their service started and for the rest of their lives.
“We can help with any problem in confidence and help see it through to the end.”
Cllr Sue MacPherson, Thurrock Council’s Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhoods, said: “We are extremely grateful to SSAFA for providing this support to local people who have served and their families.
“We are proud of our Veterans’ Charter, many former service personnel need support to get the help they deserve.”
SSAFA will be available in the reception area of the Civic Offices – unless the caseworker is talking to someone at the time.
They will be next available at Civic on Tuesday 11 April, 9 May, 13 June, 11 July, 8 August, and 12 September between 10am and noon.
