SCOUTS and Guides from across Thurrock “trod the boards” at the Thameside Theatre last week staging their 50th edition of their traditional annual “Stride On” Gang Show, which they first staged in 1968.
This year’s show was a celebration of 50 years and 50 shows, which during the week was assessed by the Essex County Assessor, and received official accreditation.
Stride On 2017 was directed by Jan Thurnell, who was presented the prestigious “Anglia Brooch” by the Guide Association for her services throughout the 50 years of the show.
Once again the host of enthusiastic youngsters support by some adult leaders performed with a high degree of professionalism, doing both themselves and their leaders proud!
A cast numbering some seventy members, supported by a similar number behind the scenes, delivered a thoroughly entertaining show, containing a great mixture of glamorous traditional and modern musical numbers, carefully entwined with some comedy sketches giving a nice balance of humour.
Thurrock Scout and Guide Gang Show would like to thank H W Wilson Ltd for sponsoring this year’s show, and everyone who came along to support us. We hope to see you all again next year at the Thameside Theatre from 25th to 28th April 2018 to help us to celebrate our 51st show. For more details please visit www.thurrockgangshow.org.uk
