A GRAYS councillor has expressed her disappointment that there are no immediate plans to make improvements to a zebra crossing in Grays.
Cllr Jane Pothecary had taken action after a number of residents and businesses expressed their concerns over the crossing directly outside the Old Courthouse on Orsett Road, Grays.
Grays Riverside councillor contacted the portfolio holder, cllr Brian Little.
Cllr Little replied: “The pedestrian crossing outside the Courthouse in Grays has not been included in the 2017/18 Road Safety Programme for upgrade, as schemes have been prioritised based on accident records, and on this basis, there are other locations across the borough which take priority.
However, as part of the Grays Regeneration Programme which has been recently allocated £10.8M funding for a new pedestrian rail crossing through the Local Growth Fund.
“The Council will be reviewing pedestrian routes through the town and looking at how well they are supported. We will ensure that the concerns highlighted are fed into this process”.
