Cllr Tim Aker MEP has called on the government to invest “Brexit funds” into a Thurrock hospital.

Cllr Aker is hoping to be the UKIP candidate for the constituency of Thurrock in the General Election on June 8th.

Cllr Tim Aker said: “Brexit has given us a great opportunity. As we leave the European Union, the UK will gain billions of pounds squandered on our EU membership. It’s time the Government invested in Thurrock and we got the hospital we were promised nearly two decades ago.

“I was born in the old Orsett hospital but the Conservative Government at the time decided to knock it down to build houses. We have seen health services shut, waiting times grow and communities in Thurrock with alarming health inequalities.

“Thurrock is the third largest local authority in the country without a hospital and that just isn’t right. We have a growing population and need a hospital to look after the needs of an ageing population.

“I think its only right that we take some of our savings from leaving the EU and spend it on a hospital here in Thurrock. We need a local MP who will go in to bat for Thurrock.”
