THERE were chaotic scenes at Thurrock Council last night (Wednesday) as the Lower Thames Crossing was debated.
At the end of an item being discussed on the Lower Thames Crossing, George Abbott, a campaigner for the No Thames Crossing group, asked if he could have two minutes to speak.
He was refused as this was “against the constitution”. See what happened next.

Link to Council Meeting Chaos…..doesn’t seem to work
https://www.youtube.com/embed/28R2FA5d5mo it does work.
Mr Abbott for me acted responsibly and reasoned with the chair, as he explained he put in question for the agenda and it was rejected, who was the clown next to Cllr Spillman he looked as though he was losing control of his emotions, when the camera panned around there were too many smug faces from people who should be representing the feelings of the residents, which to me was insulting the integrity of a guy who is acting on behalf of thousands of concerned residents.
It looks like the council will not entertain anything that doesn’t tow the party line, which JDP insisits on the route taken is the right one.
What is the point if the councillors are not supporting the residents that elected them at least give us a voice.
If Mr Abbott was wrong, then someone should have given the advice when he passed his question over not wait till the time, the chaos was akin to a playground fiasco with the actions and attitudes of some of those in the chamber, for me making them not fit to act on our behalf,
