WOMEN’S HEALTH EVENT TO PROVIDE THURROCK WOMEN A CHANCE TO FIND OUT WHAT THEY CAN DO TO PROTECT THEIR HEALTH
AN event has been set up at the Community House in Grays to provide women in Thurrock a chance to hear from experts about how to stay healthy. It has been organised to tie in with Women’s Health week at the end of October.
Speakers including the inspirational Kemi Olowe from 9MonthsandWaiting, will provide information on everything from sexual health, to common issues affecting fertility and what to expect if you do have problems with gynaecological health.
The event has been organised with Thurrock Clinical Commissioning Group who are keen to help women navigate the health system and know what steps to take when starting a family.
Kehinde Adenji, Senior Commissioning Manager said:
“This event is for all women from 18 onwards, who are maybe not aware of what’s available to them to protect their sexual health, what process they should go through when planning for a family and what to do if they are having problems. We have experts from sexual health clinics, local GPs and Hospital gynaecological consultants. You can’t really afford to miss it!”
Kemi Olowe, founder of 9MonthsandWaiting said:
“I am passionate about telling my story, it took me years to conceive and part of the problem was having Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. I was diagnosed at 19 and hadn’t heard of PCOS, I immediately felt despair on finding out what this meant. If I had known the steps I could have taken to help me start my family I would have felt calmer and less stressed. That’s what this event is for, to show women the healthcare pathway and to show them what’s available to give them the knowledge they need.”
