Essex Police formally name man who died in South Ockendon

ESSEX Police are now in a position to confirm the name of a man who died following an assault in South Ockendon.

George Cunningham, 52, from South Ockendon was assaulted near Dilkes Park in Foyle Drive shortly before 3pm on Thursday, December 14.

Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A forensic post-mortem found he had suffered a serious head injury.

Detective Inspector Stuart Truss, from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, said: “Investigations into Mr Cunningham’s death are progressing well and we have a number of lines of enquiry.

“We are still looking to trace two men who left the area in a silver or light-coloured vehicle.

“There were a number of vehicles that passed the scene at the time of the assault and I need anyone who has any dash-cam footage of the vehicle or the men to come forward.”
