All-out War for Vue Big Screen Events in May

THERE’S a war-torn feel to Vue Thurrock’s Big Screen Events calendar this May, with screenings of two fascinating tales from the Second World War.

The action opens with a fantastically unique take on theatre classic, Cinderella, from internationally-acclaimed choreographer, Matthew Bourne. Set in 1940’s London, Bourne’s interpretation sees potential hopes of a romance between Cinderella and her dashing, young RAF pilot hang in the balance after the horrific events of the Blitz.

This is then followed by a thrilling adaptation of British classic, the Dam Busters. Directed by Michael Anderson and based on the legendary true story of Commander Guy Gibson and his squadron, the story follows the exploits of a young pilot and their crews, charged with taking out an impenetrable Ruhr river dam with an ingeniously designed bomb.

Johnny Carr, Alternative Content Manager at Vue UK and Ireland, commented: “It’s an incredibly unique selection of big screen events we have on offer, which provides something for absolutely everyone in the family.”

“Also on offer to guests this May is the National Theatre’s intense performance of the Macbeth which features the acting brilliance of Rory Kinnear and Anne-Marie Duff and the directorial flair from Rufus Norris.”
