THE Royal Opera House Thurrock Community Chorus is recruiting once again. A free taster sessions will run on Monday 24 September at Palmer’s College, Grays.
Are you known for your love of singing? Have you always wondered if you have a hidden singing talent? Perhaps you would like to develop your voice. Singers of any ability, aged eight and upwards from across Thurrock are welcome to attend the free Royal Opera House Thurrock Community Chorus taster sessions.
All singers are welcome but they would especially welcome tenors and baritones.
YT popped along to the High House in Purfleet to speak to chorus member, Linda Stewart, who could not speak highly enough of the chorus.
The sessions offer an opportunity to meet the members of the Chorus, the Chorus Director, to discover the brilliant vocal talents in the borough and find out how to become part of the group.
Rehearsals for the ROH Thurrock Community Chorus take place weekly in term time at Palmers College, Chadwell Road, Grays from 7.15pm to 9.30pm. The Chorus sing a mixed repertory of opera, classical and contemporary music, sung in the original language. The Chorus has most recently performed at the Windrush celebration at the Port of Tilbury, where they sang live on Sky TV, and at the Singing Our Lives concert in London. Performances are planned in Thurrock, London and at the Royal Opera House during 2019.
Anyone aged over eight years old and who lives, works, studies or volunteers in Thurrock, can join the ROH Thurrock Community Chorus. No experience of singing is necessary, there is no need to be able to read music but both are most welcome too.
The taster sessions are not auditions and there is no requirement for anyone to sing alone but there will be opportunities to join in the singing. The Chorus is particularly in need of those with lower tenor or bass voices. Those wishing to attend a taster session can come to one or to both sessions. Register to attend by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 01708 891200.
