South Ockendon women victim of arson attack


ESSEX Police are appealing for information about an arson in Arisdale Avenue, South Ockendon, today, Friday, December 14.

A woman was woken up by her smoke alarm at around 3.20am to find her front door alight.

Fortunately, no one was harmed and the fire was quickly extinguished.

A police spokesperson said: “We believe an accelerant was used to start the fire and are treating this as deliberate fire.

This accelerant was found nearby and we believe they are linked.

We are carrying out CCTV and house to house enquires at the scene.

We are appealing for anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour or has dash cam footage to get in contact with Grays CID quoting incident 125 of 14/12.
