PLANS for up to 2,500 dwellings in Thurrock have been submitted.
London-based architects, Studio Egret West made the announcement on their website.
A spokesperson said:
“We have submitted plans for Northlake, a new neighbourhood in the Lakeside basin, Thurrock.
Working for London Strategic Land, the scheme places well-being at the forefront, and comprises 2,500 dwellings nestled around a linear park that works with existing ecological habitats to create a holistic landscape.
The proposals intend to establish a highly liveable community where wildlife focused areas and people focused areas are balanced and mutually beneficial. A lake with a lido, a woodland park with mountain bike trails and open mosaic grassland all contribute to the quality of the neighbourhood and to regional bio-diversity by creating another core area along the Mar Dyke River Valley linear corridor.
Detailed approval is sought for 342 dwellings; a linear park; a lido facility; 3km of mountain bike routes with a national standard pump track; and a plethora of public realm improvements.
“Outline approval is sought for up to 2158 dwellings; a new primary / nursery school; community pavilion; retail; public art together with open space, landscape and public realm provision”.
Studio Egret West are the urban designers, architects and landscape architects for the scheme.
