FOR the first time ever, a community action day is being launched to raise money for Thurrock on Friday 29 March by local Charity – Giving for Thurrock.
Giving for Thurrock promises that all money raised in their name stays within the borough boundaries and helps Thurrock residents. With no costly processing fees and minimal expenditure on back-office support, the charity has already supported many children and adults through their grants application programme.
Chief Executive Officer of CVS, Kristina Jackson said: “This day is open to interpretation – it’s simply a nudge for all of us to make an extra effort to help our community, by either raising money, going for a cup of tea with somebody you think may be lonely or by just doing random acts of kindness.”
A number of local businesses have already pledged their support to the day and have their own plans to do their part including retail giants IKEA to local pubs, printing companies and builders.
Kristina continued by saying: “This could be an annual event that Thurrock can be truly proud of but it only works if everybody gets involved. From the smallest one-man businesses to the large international companies we have locally – from the large families, our older population, our young families and young people, we can all play a part in helping one another and improving the lives of ourselves and our neighbours.”
Inspire others with ideas and tell us what you pledge to do on the day by posting on the @GivingForThurrock Facebook or Twitter page or e-mail email@example.com
