Swimming: Thurrock produce top boys in Essex

ESSEX CHAMPIONSHIPS 2019
THURROCK FINISH 3RD OVERALL

SWIMMERS from Thurrock Swimming Club competed in the last block of the Essex swimming championships. The club demonstrated its strength and quality by comfortably finishing 3rd overall – the highest placing for 10 years. The relays teams also finished third overall and Nikita Charykin and Jude Hills won Top Boy in their age group. The club fielded swimmers in most finals, gained many medals and personal best times from all.

Jude Hills won top 14 year old boy. He also came 1st in the 200 fly, 2nd in the 400IM, 1st in the 800 free, 5th 100 breast & 6th 200 breast. Nikita Charykin finished top in the 13 year category. He also came 1st in the 200 fly, 1st 400IM, 1st 200 breast, 2nd 800 free, 2nd 100 breast. Jimmy Taylor had a great weekend finishing 3rd 800 free, 4th in the 400IM and a best time in the 200 IM. Harrison Jarvis came 1st in the 100 & 200 breast in Event Best Times, 5th in the 800 free, 2nd 400IM & 6th 200IM. Bryony Edgings finished 5th in the 800 free, 7th 200IM, 6th 200 free, 7th 100 fly. Elise Delapperall came 5th in the 800 free, 6th 100 back, 6th 100 fly, 8th 200IM, 4th 200 back and PB in the 200 free. Jasmine Verlander finished 5th in the 100 back & 3rd 200 back and a best time in the 200 free. Ben Minister finished 3rd in the 400IM, 7th 200 fly, PB in the 100 breast, 5th 200 breast. Kevin Moghina 3rd in the 200 fly, best times in the 100 breast. Mia Ward swam a great 200 back and 100 back. Sophie Conroy 8th in the 800 free, 6th 100 fly and competed in the 100 back, 200 back, 200IM, 200 free

Radost Milkova finished 5th in the 100 back, 5th 100 fly, 5th 200 back, 5th 200 fly. Eloise Bruce finished 7th in the 800 free, set PBs in the 100 free, 100 fly 6th, 6th 200 free 200IM. Maria Stanciu achieved 4th in the 100 back, 2nd in the 200 IM, 2nd in the 200 free & 2nd 200 back. Matteo Castello competed in the 100 & 200 breast. Joshua Shepherd fininshed 4th in the 200 fly , 6th 100 breast. Akobami Akindele finished 3rd in the 100 breast & 4th 200 breast. Daniel Boboye finished 5th in the 100 breast and swam well in the 200 breast. James Edgings finished 7th in the 800 free. Rebecca West finished 8 in the 100 back and competed in the 200 back and 200 free. Priya Dhillon achieved best times 100 back, 200 back. Christian Calianu set best times in the 100 breast. Daisy Patterson set PBs in the 100 back & 200 back. Jeremy Godwin set a best time in the 100 breast and finished top 10 year old. Rebecca Honeywell swam a great 100 back. Phoebe Brennan competed in the 100 back and 200 free. Louise Webster set a best time in the 100 fly. Tia Lotay set a PB in the 200IM. Tami Bankole set a best time in the 200 free & 100 fly. Paige Laybourn-Morris set best times in the 200 free, 100 fly.
Lillian Tagg competed in the 100 & 200 back. Martine Tran competed in the 100 back, 6th 100 fly
Gabriella Taiwo set best times in the 100 back. Caitlin Murray competed in the 100 back & 200 back.

The relay teams competed so well in the last block of these championships. In the boys 11/12 Medley Relay – Christian Calianu, Daniel Boboye, Joshua Shephered, Kevin Moghina finished 2nd and in the freestyle team, Ayobami Akindele replaced Daniel to finish 3rd. Three of these swimmers were swimming a year under age! The girls 15 & Over Medley Relay Radost Milkova, Rebecca West, Martine Tran & Phoebe Brennan excelled, and finished 7th overall.
