SMILE for Family Wellbeing
THE Family Learning team from Thurrock Adult Community College has been delivering SMILE courses in local schools, making a positive different to parents/carers and pupil, helping them to enjoy school and maximise their ability to learn. Attendees at the latest course in Kenningtons Primary Academy, Aveley, have reported that the thought-provoking course is already having a positive impact on their daily relationships, improving two-way communication, developing healthy self-esteem and boosting confidence by identifying strengths and skills to reduce anxiety. Parents say they are also learning from each other by sharing experiences and report that their children also enjoy dropping into the sessions too!
A warm welcome awaits at Thurrock Adult Community College if you want to start your family on a road to restfulness and peace of mind to help family members deal with anxiety, bounce back from difficulties and improve concentration. The college in Grays is offering a 3-week Family Wellbeing after-school course on Wednesdays from 8 May for only £5 per family, followed by a Family SMILE Club starting in June. If you can’t wait until then, enrol for some feel-good fun on the Family Singing course, from Tuesday 30 April – all welcome and no experience necessary!
