THE HEAD of Stifford Clays Primary school, Sharon Walker is set to quit her post.

The chief executive of the South West Essex Community Education Trust (SWECET), Steve Munday, has written to parents to give details regarding the sudden departure just a week before Easter and a couple of weeks before key SATS exams.

In a letter seen by YT, Mr Munday explains that head of Deneholm Primary, Christina Pumphrey will be taking over with immediate effect.

Mrs Walker has also issued a statement. She said: “It is with deepest regret, that I have to inform you of my decision to leave my position of headteacher at Stifford Clays Primary School at Easter due to family illness and my family’s plan to relocate.

“I feel that my intended weekend commute would now not be tenable as I would be unable to support my family in the way they need me to.

“It has been a pleasure to work with so many supportive families the have enabled us to achieve much together for your children.

“With your support the school will continue to grow from strength to strength.”

Mr Munday has stressed to parents that “the highest quality of provision for the children at the school remains the number one priority.

The news comes just over a year after the previous headteacher Anthony Peltier also departed suddenly.

  1. Sadly the same thing is happening with the other 2 primary schools within the Trust, Deneholm and Chadwell St Mary Primary Schools.
