A FORMER Gable Hall pupil made it through to the next round of Britain’s Got Talent after an entertaining first appearance in the popular ITV show.
Graeme Matthews mixed the typical type of comedy and magic he had become known for as a magician in the area for a number of years.
Judge Amanda Holden was asked to join Mr Matthews on stage as his glamorous assistant, lending a helping hand to his magic tricks.
Mr Matthews impressed with the classic card guessing magic trick, but performed with large birthday cards instead of playing cards.
Alesha Dixon gave him a vote of approval, describing him as a “breath of fresh air”.
She said: “You’re naturally witty and funny, I really really loved that.”
While famously hard to please, Simon Cowell was full of praise for Graeme.
He said: “I am going to tell you something Graeme, some people walk on the stage and the minute they get on the stage the air goes out the room, but not you, you have almost the opposite affect.
“You’re very confident, you have a stage presence, the moment you switch on the act, we are in it.
“I think people are going to root for you, you’re great.”
