FIRE Crews were called to a number of outbuildings on fire on Sunday afternoon.
On arrival firefighters reported that the fire had started after a burning pile of rubbish caught fire to one outbuilding and then spread to a number of others.
Watch Manager Kevin Hercock, Orsett Fire Station, said:
“On one of the hottest days of the year so far this was a challenging incident and firefighters worked incredibly hard to contain the fire spreading further than it did.
“We were also faced with a number of gas cylinders inside the buildings which made conditions more difficult, but thanks to the skills of our firefighters we worked quickly to contain them and ensure the area was safe.”
The fire was extinguished by 3.05pm.
Two of the outbuildings have been completely destroyed.
