SOUTH Basildon and East Thurrock MP Stephen Metcalfe has called for action on climate change.
He was joined outside the Houses of Parliament by local residents.
Mr Metcalfe said: “Great to meet locals Jan Curtis, Ann Nash & Linda Allen today at the Time is Now climate rally.
“We must advocate around the world to show that tackling Climate Change is an opportunity to be grasped not just a risk to be managed”.

A Tory jumping on to the band wagon after Labour called the climate change situation an emergency. Again, Labour leading the way.
Valen. Thats not true. The Ecology Party now called Green Party. led the way. Others jumped on the thing later on.
The Green economy is a massive business opportunity
Oil and Coal Industries will fight it all the way (stop climate denial lobbying).
The worst thing is they did there own studies themselves that said it was real and going to happen. You know its bad when there own paid for staff say its going to happen.
I have to admit I have never heard of these three women. I am a local Green member. Why was the local prospective Green Cllr also not there.
We need to build as much support for this as possible.
Thurrock could export Green technology to the world.
Looks like
Two WI
One Rotary
For information purposes.
I should add Valen
Greenpeace and the PEOPLE Party…… Also did there bits.
It’s just really sad a lot of them died years ago. having labels like its socialist trotskyist conspiracy theory thrown at them for years. When you think of the commercial applications of Green technology.
Catching the Bus – Valid points there. Unfortunately, Greenpeace, People Party and the Greens don’t have the clout in Parliament that they should have so it’s up to Labour to lead the way in the HoC until we get proportional representation that will, hopefully, give the Greens more sway.
PR would be the best way to go in politics because, on Green issues, it’s the Green Party that is the best informed on and most dedicated to a Greener future and they’ll never have enough sway in Parliament under the current system.
Yeah, the Right always throw pejorative terms around to smear the Left. Then again, the Left throw pejorative terms around too but they are usually accurate descriptions rather than smears.
Fair point. The Green’s only have one MP. Caroline Lucas.
I agree with PR. The more politics reflects the people rather than one or two political parties the better.
The US system is in real trouble right now with the duopoly.
Republicans and corporate Democrats. Not reflecting the American people who overwhelmingly want universal healthcare, public education and affordable homes.
If things continue they will rebel or a new party will come around and get big like the Libertarians, US Green’s or a Progressive Party.
I think the US Democratic Party will rig the Primaries again and stick up Biden against Trump. Not many Democratic voters like Biden.
End of Democratic party.
Great news for the Libertarians, US Green’s or a Progressive Party
