Chadwell St Mary family appeal to Thurrock Council after flat floods

A CHADWELL St Mary family are appealing to Thurrock Council to rehouse them whilst their flat is being repaired after a flood.

A few weeks ago, mum-of-three Toni Byers’ flat in George Tilbury House, Chadwell St Mary suffered from flooding from above.

It has caused substantial damage and left the flat in what can only be described as very trying conditions.

Her youngest child is under the care of Great Ormond Street Hospital.

They had been put into a hotel, with some assistance by Thurrock Council, for a few days but this was proving too costly for them.

YT went to the flat to talk to Toni about what has been happening since the flood and what help they need.

A Thurrock Council spokesperson said: “The council has investigated in line with its complaints procedure and responded directly to the resident on Monday 15 July.

“We always seek to work with our residents to resolve any issues and find the best solution for everyone. We also encourage them to ensure they have adequate contents insurance in place”.
