This year it’ll cost £5.5million to keep St Luke’s Hospice open, providing its services free of charge for local people. So every £1 raised will really make a difference. In fact, one book of raffle tickets sold could cover the cost of essential clinical supplies for a patient, like Richard, on our inpatient unit for almost two days.
Doting father and husband Richard Puffett was 65 years old when he lost his battle with a rare form of lung cancer. After he was diagnosed, Richard continued to make the most of life and enjoyed spending time with those closest to him.
He was cared for at home, then when he was feeling particularly unwell began visiting St. Luke’s Hospice to help steady his condition. Richard spent five weeks in the In-Patient Unit at the Hospice before passing away on the 28th June 2017. The night before he died, the whole family was by his bedside.
