News students at Hassenbrook Academy get special visit from education boss

Special first day of school visit for Hassenbrook Academy

NEW students at Ortu Hassenbrook Academy in Stanford Le Hope, got a special welcome to secondary school after Councillor James Halden popped by to say hello and see how they were settling in last week (4 September).

Portfolio Holder for Education, Cllr Halden said: “What a pleasure to be in this exciting school community where so much progress is being made.

“I was particularly impressed with the  students who demonstrated such confidence with their learning, particularly in Maths.

“The students and staff spoke with pride about their school and it’s a joy to see improvements continuing at a pace at Hassenbrook Academy.”

Headteacher,Ms Jo Williams said: “It’s natural for some students to be a little anxious starting at secondary school. We hold welcome days before the start of term for year 7’s to find their feet in our school and have the chance to settle in.

“Cllr Halden’s visit gave our newest students an opportunity to show him around their new school and explain what they’re looking forward to during the upcoming year.”
