THURROCK MP Jackie Doyle-Price has described the news that 39 people were found dead in a lorry in Grays as “absolutely shocking”.
Ms Doyle-Price rose on the floor of the House of Commons and also spoke to the BBC to reflect on the days events.
She spoke of the members of the ambulance service who first attended at the scene. She said “The scene they confronted will stay with them for the rest of their lives.
“I have huge respect for all our emergency services in the challenge they have.
“These incidents knock you for six.”
Asked about the investigation, Ms Doyle-Price said: “This is a trade (people-trafficking) that we can only tackle with the co-operation of other countries.
“This is a menace to humanity.”
