Thurrock to celebrate #EachForEqual for International Women’s Day 2020
THURROCK Council is once again celebrating International Women’s Day with a series of events at the Civic Offices in Grays on Monday 9 March 2020.
This year’s theme of #EachForEqual will see a number of local providers come together to promote their services and the positive action for change that women can take. Taking place from 1pm to 4pm in Committee Rooms 2 and 3 at the Civic Offices, partners due to attend include Thurrock Healthy Lifestyle Solutions, South Essex Rape and Incest Crisis Centre (SERICC), Changing Pathways and Essex Police amongst others.
A free half an hour healthy walk session will also take place, leaving the Civic Offices reception at 12.45pm on the day and is a great opportunity to meet new people and discuss this year’s themes around women’s empowerment. This walk will return in time for a follow-up event taking place in the Council Chamber from 2pm to 3.15pm which features a number of Thurrock’s inspirational women sharing their stories of empowerment and achievement both in life and the workplace.
Cllr Deb Huelin, Cabinet Member for Central Services and Communities, said: “All International Women’s Day events this year are free to attend for all residents. This is a great opportunity to come together with partners to collectively help create a gender equal community and celebrate women’s achievements together.
“The theme of International Women’s Day this year allows us to broaden perceptions, improve situations and challenge stereotypes to ensure equality for all.”
