Leader of Thurrock Council responds to lockdown news

THE leader of Thurrock Council has responded to news that the country will enter lockdown between November 5th and December 2nd.

Leader of Thurrock Council, Cllr Rob Gledhill, said: “I’m sure everyone will be disappointed to hear about the national lockdown. The collective efforts of people across Thurrock have kept us in Tier 1, and although it is very clear that whilst most people are complying with the rules, the disease is spreading nationwide.

“I will be meeting virtually with officers and receiving briefings all weekend, including joining a virtual meeting with Secretary of State for Local Government Robert Jenrick, and I will update group leaders, members and residents with more information as soon as possible.

“We will do all that we can to help protect and support the NHS, residents and businesses across Thurrock.”
