Leader of Thurrock Council responds to lockdown news

THE leader of Thurrock Council has responded to news that the country will enter lockdown between November 5th and December 2nd.

Leader of Thurrock Council, Cllr Rob Gledhill, said: “I’m sure everyone will be disappointed to hear about the national lockdown. The collective efforts of people across Thurrock have kept us in Tier 1, and although it is very clear that whilst most people are complying with the rules, the disease is spreading nationwide.

“I will be meeting virtually with officers and receiving briefings all weekend, including joining a virtual meeting with Secretary of State for Local Government Robert Jenrick, and I will update group leaders, members and residents with more information as soon as possible.

“We will do all that we can to help protect and support the NHS, residents and businesses across Thurrock.”

  1. you are a council of disrepute because the goverment gave every one in the country 150 towards their council tax bill but the answers i got from your employees when i called on 7 occassions was only those of working age get it,or oh it will put you in credit or oh we are giving it to all those paying council tax BUT I NEVER GOT IT NOR DID A LOT OF PENSIONERS IN THURROCK i have checked the wording in the document and it does state the use of the 150 in the way you have used it i ave spoke to councilors from both partys and they are of the same opinon

  2. I would like to know his response to the fact that Stanford le hope a town In Thurrock has the highest rate of covid 19 the whole of Essex. Given that fact why does he still feel Thurrock should be tier 1.
