Esports on the curriculum at USP College

USP College are excited to be offering the Level 3 Esports course from September 2021 and if you live and breathe gaming then this is the course for you!

The Esports course is for serious gamers, graphic artists, YouTuber’s, animators and coders who not only game, but really want to understand everything about the business from branding, promotion, content production, and event planning in the games industry.

And if you are unsure about a career in Esports, then it’s worth noting that video game sales surpassed the £4billion mark in 2020, showing that the UK’s gaming industry is going from strength to strength – leading to a growing number of opportunities available for video game enthusiasts. This career-focused qualification enables students to acquire underpinning knowledge, develop technical and transferable skills, and gain experience in a variety of different sections of the Esports industry.

Esports is a hugely popular recreational activity that also offers many job and career opportunities around the world and the British Esports Association recognises and welcomes this, and is leading the way in Esports education to create pathways for young people seeking careers in Esports and other closely linked digital industries.
Aaron Haggerty, Esports teacher, said: “The course covers everything from shoutcasting, streaming, coaching, and gameplay editing. We will also be generating content around our College Esports teams, which in the first year will include an Overwatch team. Learners will be able to cast the games live and analyse events and audience reception. I’m really excited to see what the year brings.”

Over the past two years the College has been investing in Digital Technologies and Innovations and students on this course will have the ability to work with industry standard technology to ensure they are prepared with the skills and knowledge for their future career.
