THURROCK is synonymous with Windrush – but its significance reaches far further than Essex..

Citizens from across the 54 Commonwealth countries fought, died, some now settled in the ‘Motherland’ are also considered ‘Windrush’..

Local community groups Zedgeneration UK and ThurrockBME (TBME) have organised the best ever party to celebrate the end of national lockdown, with live entertainment & international food.

At the Worlds End Pub next to the historic Tilbury Fort built by King Henry V11, guests will include Sidra Naeem, Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Essex, local and national politicians.

Poignantly others travelling to the event will include Simeon Grossett, Chair of the Windrush Housing Association, and board member of the Windrush Compensation scheme: Audley English founder of Buildeco, and UK’s first West Indian architect; children and grandchildren of the original pioneers

Former mayor of Thurrock Tunde Ojetola, of TBME, and Rani Moorcroft MBE, founder of Zedgeneration UK hope this fine party will bring people together for wherever or however we came from we are all citizens of a global Britain.
