Save the Whale at Grays Beach Park

AS a part of the T100 Dreaming event, Thurrock Lifestyle Solutions (TLS) have teamed up with wearecreativesthurrock.uk to erect a sculpture of a whale that has been devastated by plastic pollution.

The whale sculpture was unveiled at Grays Beach Riverside Park on Saturday, 31st of July, 2021.

The whale has been constructed using materials that are typically found choking the nearby River Thames.

Neil Woodbridge of TLS said, ‘The sculpture highlights mankinds adverse impact on the environment through the mismanagement of plastic waste that ends up in our rivers and oceans.’

Carolyn Djebbari of wearecreativesthurrock.uk added, “Creating the sculpture really brought home the devastation we wreak upon mother nature. I hope everyone comes along to see it.’

The community is urged to come along and bring their penny jars with them and empty them around the sculpture creating a river of coins. #RiverofChange.

All the money collected will be donated to Thames21, a dedicated organisation that does so much incredible work cleaning up the environment and to whom we all owe a debt of gratitude.
