THE Mayor of Thurrock supported local business Social Shakes at the grand opening on the 5th of September. The brand-new milkshake and ice cream store located in Lakeside Shopping Centre held a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Madam Mayor to officially open the store. It was smiles all around as Madam Mayor opted for her favourite, the Honeycomb Crunch milkshake. She said, “After this challenging period, it’s really great seeing a new, local business emerge with exciting plans for the future.”

A performance from local youngsters at Razzamataz also performed throughout the day, creating milkshake fun.
Bradly Carter, owner of Social Shakes, is thrilled to open the store and create new jobs for the younger generation. With young workers having been hit the hardest by rising unemployment during the Covid pandemic – official figures from the Office for National Statistics show youth long-term unemployment has hit a five-year high, with more than 200,000 under 25s out of work for more than six months – Social Shakes is excited to share career opportunities for talented team members who will help make the Social Shakes magic happen.
Madam Mayor’s official opening paves the way for the store to create more excitement within the shopping centre for local customers. Delicious desserts combined with a funky photobooth take the brand online to directly target their customer base.
The scrumptious menu includes milkshakes and ice cream tubs with a variety of flavours and extra toppings. Whether you enjoy fruity, sugary, or chocolaty flavours, there is something for everyone.
The grand opening is just the first of many for this Thurrock based business with ambitious goals for opening more stores across the UK in the future.
