THIS week’s road closures, as part of the A13 Road Widening Project.
Wednesday 29 and Thursday 30 September, overnight only between 9pm and 5am
Brentwood Road closed in both directions between Welling Road and Orsett Roundabout.
Diversion via Brentwood Road, Chadwell Hill, B149 Chadwell Bypass, Wood View, Dane Holes Roundabout, A1013 Stanford Road and Orsett Roundabout (and vice versa).
Residents wishing to access The Bonners estate should do so from the Chadwell St Mary direction.
All weekend, 9pm Friday 1st October to 5am Monday 4th October
A13 closed in both directions between Orsett Roundabout and Stanford-le-Hope Roundabout.
Diversion via the A1013 Stanford Road with non-local road users urged to avoid the borough and use the A127 instead.
During this closure, the following village protection measures will be in place:
Across the borough, extra electronic and temporary signs warning drivers note to use unsuitable routes
In Horndon, a temporary one-way system using Gordon Road (northbound only) and Victoria Road (southbound only)
In Horndon, a closure of Orsett Road between High Road (known locally as ‘The hole in the wall’) and Francis Close
Buckingham Hill Road closed temporarily in both directions between the Household Waste and Recycling Centre and the A1013 Stanford Road
In addition, a new village protection measure is being trialled this weekend. It involves temporarily closing Stifford Clays Road eastbound-only between the A1012 Stifford Interchange and Crammavill Street. This has been designed to prevent vehicles – especially HGVs – from self-diverting through Stifford Clays, Orsett and Horndon, to avoid the A13.
The trial has been developed taking into account feedback from residents, councillors and the council’s highways teams.
Further feedback will be assessed to judge whether the trial has been successful and will inform whether the solution is utilised again during future A13 weekend road closures.
