PARENTS of Year 6 students in Thurrock today have been offered their child’s secondary school places for September 2022.
Cllr Barry Johnson, Cabinet member for Education, said: “90.9% of parents were offered their top three preference school for this September. Year-on-year, Thurrock helps thousands of young people secure a place in one of their preferred schools in the borough.
“Each year we see around 10% of parents not get their top three choices for reasons including selecting schools they were not eligible for, children getting places in grammar schools or an academy school being popular locally and filled quickly. Those not successful have all been offered a nearby school and anyone eligible to appeal their option will have been sent information on the process.
“If you applied online for a secondary school place, you can use the council’s online system from today to check which school place has been offered. For applicants who did not apply online, an offer letter will be posted by second class post today, Tuesday 1 March.”
Waiting lists for school places will be ready on Tuesday 15 March. From this date, we will be able to advise parents and carers of their waiting list positions for Thurrock Schools. For waiting lists at schools outside the borough, you must contact the relevant schools local authority.
Primary school places for those starting in September 2022 will be offered on Tuesday 19 April 2022.
