Community and faith meeting held in Grays

COUNCILLOR Qaisar Abbas and Assistant Secretary of Grays Mosque, Mr Joglur Rahman jointly organised a community meeting in Grays to discuss current and local issues. 

The meeting was attended and addressed by prominent community and faith leaders including Mr Rachhpal Singh, Priest of Sikh Temple, Mr Daljit Singh Flora, President Board of Trustees of Grays Sikh Temple, Mr Man Bahadur Rai, President Thurrock Nepalese (Gurkha) Community, Mr Rasheed Ayoola, Imam NASFAT Grays, Mr Kehinde Yousuf, President NASFAT Grays, Mr Helal Ali, Secretary Grays Mosque, Mr Besnik Geci, Albanian community, Mr Jamil Hussein, Kurdish community, Mr Shiblur Rahman, Secretary THH, Mr Emir Kahrimanovic, Thurrock Bosnian Community, Mr Yusuf Mamon, representative of Thurrock Indian community, Mr Rashid Nadeem, Pakistani community, Mr Sami Sanaullah, Radio presenter, Ms Adeyanju Baruwa, Ms Nida Jaffary, Thurrock Shia Muslims, and Mr Sheikh Anjum.

The speakers reaffirmed their unwavering support for Councillor Qaisar Abbas and said “Cllr Qaisar Abbas is a well-respected community leader and an exemplary councillor. He always listens and responds to our concerns. We stand firmly behind him and believe that he will continue his good work in the future. We all are united and will work together in the future for a better Thurrock.” 

Cllr Qaisar Abbas briefed the attendees about local issues and upcoming elections. He also thanked the guests for their support. In his speech, he said “I regularly organise various events to bring different faith groups and communities together. Together, we are stronger and united we will thrive. I will keep working for a better, cohesive, and progressive Thurrock.” 

The speakers also condemned the Russian attack and pledged their solidarity with the people of Ukraine. One minute’s silence was observed to remember all those who were killed in Ukraine & other conflicts around the world.
