Athletics: Outstanding hurdler Hayley McLean recognised in National Awards

IF THERE was ever an athlete that you could describe as a professional’s professional then it surely must be Hayley McLean.

This week, Shaftesbury Harrier hurdler, Hayley was recognised at the National Athletics League Awards by winning the Best Female Track Athlete award.

This season, 400 metre hurdler Hayley represented Great Britain in the European Championships, where she produced a number of great performances (from Lane 8) to get to the semi-finals.

Anyone who has followed Hayley’s career from Essex Schools in 2007, will recognise her application, dedication and commitment.

Best Male Track Athlete: Jacob Paul (400m Hurdles 49.89)
Best Female Track Athlete: Hayley McLean (400mH 56.48)
Best Male Field Athlete: Scott Lincoln (Shot 19.73m and a Commonwealth Games Bronze Medal )
Best Female Field Athlete: Amelia Strickler (Shot 17.70m)
