East Region Championships Weekend 1
SWIMMERS from Thurrock Swimming Club participated in the first weekend of the East Region Championships held in Norwich. Thurrock SC, who train at Blackshots Leisure Centre with Impulse Leisure has 40 Regional qualifiers this year which is the most the Club have ever had.
In the 1500m free, Danny Thompson and Olivia Church achieved top 6 positions. In the 14 and under age group, Ivan Ijomoni came 3rd 100 fly, 4th 200 free, 8th in the 200 IM, Nichola Mitroi 6th 200 free and achieved a PB in the 200IM and 50 back, Zak Walker swam to a best time in the 200IM, 200 free and 50m breast and was 1st reserve in the 100 fly. Kai Patel achieved a best time in the 50 back, 5th 50 breast, 8th 200 IM. Will Minister was unfortunately unwell but competed in the 200IM, PB in the 50m Breast and was 1st reserve in the 100 fly.
Arianna Tverijonas swam a best time in the 50m breast as did Ava Boucaud in the same event. Jeremy Godwin and Obalolu Bankole both swam best times in the 50m breast for 14-year-olds. Isabella Da Silva swam very well and achieved best times in the 100 fly and 200 free. Tobi Olajide competed in the 100 fly and a PB in the 50 back, equalled his PB in the 200 free. Sarah Quartermaine achieved a best time in the 50 back.
