HE MAY have only been a councillor for three months but Stanford West councillor Neil Speight (Ind) is certainly making his presence felt.
On Wednesday nights meeting, cllr Speight requested an item of urgent business in relation to a “planning matter”.
The mayor of Thurrock, cllr Sue Little refused this. Councillor Speight pleaded his case but cllr Little declined the request.
On pleading his case, he was told to sit down to which he obliged but stated: “Democracy is dead in this chamber!”.
