
OFFICERS investigating a reported attempted burglary in Tilbury have made five arrests.
Police were called to reports of a group behaving suspiciously outside an address in Coronation Avenue, East Tilbury, shortly after 3.50am on Friday 8 September.
Officers were on the scene, speaking with witnesses at the scene and taking accounts from neighbours and reviewing CCTV footage.
After speaking to one resident, officers established a group of males had attempted to force entry to a vacant neighbouring property.
By 4.08 am officers arrested five males found inside a nearby car, also recovering a baseball bat from the vehicle.
Five men, a 33-year-old, a 30-year-old, a 23-year-old, a 28-year-old and a 36-year-old, all from London, were arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary.
They remain in custody for questioning.
