Welling United 1 v 3 Aveley
AVELEY have recorded back-to-back league wins for the first time since early November. Millers dispatched struggling Welling United three-one at Park View Road this Saturday (6 January) in the Vanarama National League South.
Aveley took the lead after just 11 minutes through Nana Kyei, who got on the end of Harry Gibbs’ cross at the back post.
Millers took advantage of their dominant start and scored again four minutes later. Alex Hernandez was found by Kyei and found the bottom right corner with his effort.
After their second goal, Aveley had some defending to do. However, it was the away side who scored the third goal. Owen Cochrane fed through Charlee Hughes who dispatched his effort into the bottom right corner.
A superb first half from The Millers.
Welling scored in the 61st minute after they were awarded a controversial penalty. Hernandez looked like he was fouled but the referee disagreed, giving The Wings the spot kick. Kain Adom tucked away from 12 yards.
Millers secure three points to kick off the new year.
Aveley returns to Parkside next Saturday (13 January) when they face AFC Fylde in the FA Trophy fourth round. Fylde, of the Vanarama National League, are second bottom in the league. But, they had the better of seventh place Rochdale last time out, beating them two-nil.
