Chadwell St Mary: Quad bike cops recover vehicles and make arrests

POLICE have reported a success in their Operation Caesar project, aimed at reducing disruptive and anti-social off-road behaviour by drivers and riders.

On Sunday (14 April), officers from the Community Policing Team were patrolling using their own force quadbikes in areas of Stifford Clays and Chadwell St Mary following recent reports.

While in Stifford Clays, the team came across an abandoned Range Rover. Checks revealed it had been stolen from Grays on 5 April.

While in Chadwell St Mary, the team came across a suspected stolen moped and quadbike on Orsett Heath playing fields. The driver of the moped fled the scene and managed to get away but two two males from the quadbike were caught and arrested.

The moped has been confirmed to have previously been stolen.

A statement from the force says: “Enquiries relating to the quad bike are ongoing, and the driver was issued with a Section 59 warning.

“All three vehicles were seized and recovered.”
