Mayor of Thurrock meets with Corringham Primary school pupils

ON Monday 13th May , Corringham Primary School and Nurseries’ Pupil Council were asked to meet with the Mayor of Thurrock, Cllr Sue Little, to receive a generous donation of £250.

The Mayor explained that this donation was because she had been so impressed with the pupils’ behaviour and exemplary attitudes when they visited her parlour for tea last September.

She told them that she really wanted to reward them with some money that they could use to spend on school equipment. The children have decided they will spend the money on games and activities to help make their lunchtime experience more fun and exciting.

Headteacher , Mrs Karina Garrick added how honoured she was to receive a visit from the Mayor and thanked the Mayor for her generosity and time. She said that “these experiences really do enhance our pupils’ understanding of democracy and the rule of law – two important British Values and that it is a memorable experience to meet the Mayor, let alone have tea with her, which these children did!“
