A TEAM of employees from the Amazon fulfilment centres in Dartford and Tilbury recently took time out to pack school kits for children at a Dartford primary school.
500 school kits worth £5,000, were put together for pupils at Dartford Bridge Community Primary School.
20 employees from across the two fulfilment centres got involved in packing up the kits at the fulfilment centre in Dartford. The kits included activity books, stationery sets, bookmarks and more.

The idea for the donation came following Comic Relief and World Book Day in March, when an employee at the Amazon fulfilment centre in Dartford was inspired to do something that aided children’s education. The site asked if their colleagues at the nearby Amazon fulfilment centre in Tilbury would like to get involved, and the scale of the initiative grew from there.
Diana Lazar is one of the Amazon employees from Tilbury who helped with the kit packing. She said:
“It was great to come together with my colleagues and pack fun educational kits for the pupils at Dartford Bridge Community Primary School. The event was a huge success, with 500 kits put together in 4 hours. I hope the pupils enjoy their activity books and stationery sets.”
John McEwen General Manager at Amazon in Dartford, added:
“At Amazon, we are passionate about supporting young people in their educational development. Following Red Nose Day and World Book Day, we saw an opportunity to do good for children local to us, and I’m so pleased that that came about in our donation to Dartford Bridge Community Primary School. I hope the kits that our team created provide a boost to the school’s pupils and support them in their learning for the rest of the school year.”
Fazeem Mohideen from Dartford Bridge Community Primary School, said:
“On behalf of all the pupils and staff at Dartford Bridge, I would like to say a big thank you to the Amazon teams in Tilbury and Dartford for the donation of stationery, bookmarks, reading materials and more. Our pupils are so pleased, and we are chuffed to have benefited from a thoughtful and impactful donation.”
Community donations and employee volunteering are just two of the ways Amazon supports the communities where it operates. Amazon has supported more than 500,000 students across the UK with free computer science and STEM education programmes through Amazon Future Engineer.
Amazon helps community organisations transport meals and other essentials to families in need through its pro bono logistics programme, Amazon Local Good, including more than seven million healthy breakfasts to children at risk of hunger in partnership with Magic Breakfast. And through its Multibank initiative, co-founded with former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Amazon has supported more than 200,000 families experiencing poverty, with the donation of more than 2 million surplus essential goods.
Amazon partners with Comic Relief to help people tackle poverty and is the official home of the charity’s iconic Red Nose. Together with its employees, customers, and partners, Amazon has raised over £4.8 million to fund projects that support people struggling with the cost-of-living crisis and tackle issues such as homelessness, mental health problems, and food insecurity across the UK, and around the world.
