SENIOR leaders at Ormiston Park Academy have outlined their plans to deliver rapid improvements at the Aveley school, following an Ofsted inspection which judged it to be requiring improvement.

Since the inspection on 21st and 22nd May, the academy has vowed to drive forward further enhancements which Ofsted highlighted were “already having a positive impact” across the school.
This has been aided by recent leadership and governance changes made by the Trust, utilising the experience and proven track record of leaders in delivering rapid school improvements. This includes Executive Principal Jodie Hassan and Principal Munira Said, and a newly established Interim Advisory Board which has brought “significant experience and strength” to the academy.
As a result, the academy had already identified the key areas for improvement raised by Ofsted, with robust plans underway to enhance the quality of education delivered for pupils. Within the report, Ofsted also highlighted a range of strengths which the academy is now building on, including:
- The new leadership team injecting “a sense of ambition for all pupils”, including those with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities. As a result, pupils are benefit from the positive culture which has led to the creation of a calm, purposeful school environment.
- The “significant impact” made by the IAB in a short period of time which has helped raise aspirations.
- Staff feel valued and an “integral” part of the academy’s improvement journey.
- The well-considered curriculum supporting pupils with important knowledge needed for modern life in Britian, and enhancing approaches to teaching and learning for all pupils.
- Weekly enrichment activities helping pupils develop important skills, including teamwork.
To rapidly deliver on these improvement plans and to ensure the academy is providing the very best education to pupils, senior leaders and the Trust are committed to continuing to work tirelessly and in close collaboration with staff, pupils, families, and the wider school community.
Jodie Hassan, Executive Principal, Ormiston Park Academy said:
“Whilst the outcome of this inspection is of course not at all in line with the high expectations we hold for our school or pupils, we are clear of the action needed to ensure we are delivering the very possible education.
“We are pleased that Ofsted has recognised the strong progress and positive impact of the improvements we have already made, and we are now more determined than ever to drive forward our ambitious and rapid plans to support the academy’s upward trajectory.
“We will be working in close collaboration with our entire school community as we deliver and successfully embed our effective and ambitious improvement plans.”
