CHELMSFORD Racecourse hosts its latest meeting on the all-weather on Tuesday evening with a six-race offering for punters heading to the track.

Racing gets underway at 5.47 with an eight runner handicap in class five before rounding off three hours later at 8.47 with a classified stakes in class six.

The opener (5.47) on Chelmsford’s card sees eight runners hit the polytrack for the class five handicap over the one mile and two furlong trip. A trio of runners here arrive in decent nick with Beautiful Crown, Roger Henry and Charlie’s Choice all in form but slight preference heads to Beautiful Crown for trainer Jack Jones, with two wins from four this year and the latest in June at Chepstow before following up with a second of 11 in a Haydock handicap 17 days ago, recovering well from a slow start.

Race two on the card is a seven-runner handicap in class five for three-year-old’s (6.17), once again over the one mile and two furlong distance. Heat Of Passion for trainer Sir Mark Prescott scored easily on seasonal return at Southwell eight days ago and is taken to follow up under a penalty here from Historic City, who showed improvement to finish second in a Wolverhampton handicap contest 36 days ago.

A decent field of 13 will head to the stalls for the seven furlong maiden stakes for two-year-old’s, race three on the Chelmsford card, at 6.47. Dalmally looked promising on debut at this track in June when third and should have more to offer, plus the booking of top jockey Oisin Murphy by trainer Hughie Morrison is an extra plus point heading to Essex.

Metro Dubai found just one too good on his racecourse debut before a midfield finish at Royal Ascot but is back in calmer waters as he lines up to take on race four at Chelmsford (7.17) in the 13-runner maiden stakes so is the one to beat, while race six (7.47) can go to the low-mileage Just Typical, who has found some tough luck in-running in his last two starts but makes his debut on the polytrack here and has shaped well enough to justify chancing at Chelmsford.

The penultimate race on the card sees ten runners head to the stalls to tackle the two-year-old nursery contest in class six (8.17) with Top Star taken to get his head over the line in first for the first time having shown enough previously to warrant respect heading into handicap company.

Finally, the card comes to a close with the classified stakes in class six over the six furlong trip (8.47) with preference in the finale heading to the Daniel Steele-trained Fai Fai, who got back to winning ways at Salisbury last month when landing an eight-runner handicap.
