A Levels: Ortu Sixth form principal praises students and staff

MANY students at Ortu Sixth Form Centre celebrated their A-Level and BTEC results on Thursday (15 August).

Despite the challenges over the past two years. All of our Sixth Form Graduates have worked hard, secured impressive success and are looking forward to starting university, taking up employment opportunities, or beginning apprenticeships.

This year the Corringham-based Sixth Form Centre, had a 98% overall pass rate and 44% of students achieved grades A*-B.

Some of the best performing subjects this year were photography, psychology, criminology, business studies, sport & exercise science, health and social care, politics, physics, maths and applied science.

Principal Gary Lewis said: “I am thrilled for all the students and that all have secure destinations to go to.

“They have worked hard to achieve their grades. Well done to all students and also congratulations to all staff for their commitment and dedication they have unwaveringly shown to allow our students to reach their full protentional. Well done everybody, you should all be very proud.”

Ms Sue Weston, Director of the Ortu Sixth Form Centre commented: “I leave my post as Director feeling so proud of all my students, they have worked so hard and I wish them every success for the future.”

A sattement added: “Our Ortu Sixth Form Centre is extremely proud of everyone’s achievement this year, and would like to highlight some individuals that have really excelled:

Ademide A, 18 from Basildon achieved DD in Business, and B in Politics and will be studying Law at Sheffield Freddie S, 18 from Orsett achieved B in Biology, A in Psychology and D in Sport & Exercise Science and will be studying Physiotherapy at the Hertfordshire University
Tyler C, 18 from Stanford-Le-Hope achieved A* in Maths, A* in Further Maths and B in Physics and will be studying Maths and Computer Science at Birmingham University
Millie T, 18 from Stanford-Le-Hope achieved A* in Law, A in English Language & Literature and A in History and will be studying Law at Durham University
Lexie R, 18 from Tilbury achieved DDD* in Health & Social Care and will be studying Occupational Therapy at the University of East Anglia
Mia W, 18 from Grays achieved A in English Language & Literature, A in History and A in Law and will be studying Law at Surrey University
George H, 18 from Grays achieved DD in Business and A in Finance and will be studying Business Management at Loughborough University
Lewis C, 18 from Stanford-Le-Hope achieved A in Maths, A in Physics and B in Further Maths and will be studying a degree apprenticeship
Deborah A, 18 from Basildon achieved DDD in Health & Social Care and will be studying Midwifery at Hertfordshire University
Matilda B, 18 from Corringham achieved A* in Psychology, B in Fine Art, Dist. In Music Performance and will be studying Psychology at Kent University
Leah C, 18 from Stanford-Le-Hope achieved DDD in Health & Social Care and will be studying Child Nursing at the University of East Anglia
Max J, 18 from Corringham achieved DDD in Applied Science and will be studying Biomedicine at Warwick University
