THE all-weather action continues at Chelmsford on Saturday evening with a seven-race card at the track.
The meeting kicks off at 5.25pm with a class six amateur jockeys’ handicap before the card comes to a close at 8.30pm.

In the opening contest in the evening (5.25), trainer David Loughnane sends Harry The Haggler, who ended his long losing run in uncomplicated fashion when making all at Southwell last time out and a 2lb rise doesn’t look insurmountable. Fellow last-time-out winner Major Major is next best ahead of Curtiz to round out the top three.
Pantile Warrior sets a high standard in race two on the card (6.00) which is a one mile and two furling maiden stakes in class five for three-year-old’s. Soy Loco left his debut run well behind when third at Kempton last time out and is next best.
Just Like Magic was much improved for the Owen Burrows team when making a winning handicap debut at Lingfield five weeks ago, leaving the impression there’s more to come in the process. He can defy a 3lb rise in the weights and follow up in race three at Chelmsford (6.30) as seven runners take on the class five handicap.
With a strong pace forecast in the six furlong class six handicap (7.00), this may be run to suit the free-going Papa Don’t Preach for trainer Kevin Frost, who last time settled better than he has done previously and is on a fair handicap mark if putting it all together.
A field of ten will head to the stalls for the class six handicap at 7.30pm. Stella Hogan didn’t entirely convince with her head carriage under pressure at Southwell on her most recent start, but is holding her form well nonetheless and is taken to notch a second win for the Mick Appleby team.
Stall 11 isn’t ideal, but Kitaro Kitch is in the form of his life at present for trainer George Baker and is difficult to oppose under a 5lb penalty in the penultimate race of Saturday’s meeting (8.00) having run out a most decisive winner at Lingfield earlier in the week. Waleyfa is still lightly raced for her current yard and goes well fresh, so must enter calculations.
In the finale of the evening (8.30) – an 11-runner class six handicap over the mile trip – the vote goes to the least exposed in the field in Velvet Vortex, who is capable of better still now stepping back up in trip. Boujee Gold can have a big say if shrugging off a lesser effort at Southwell last time out to be the main danger.
