THURROCK MP Jen Craft has responded to the Spring Statement by the Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Jen Craft MP, Member of Parliament for Thurrock, said:

“I’m pleased to see the Government doing the good work of stabilising the public finances, so working families in our area don’t pay the price for economic instability through higher mortgages and spiralling inflation.

“The Spring Statement demonstrated the progress that has been made in supporting economic growth in challenging circumstances, with improved forecasts for long-term growth. This is vital for delivering the change that people in Thurrock voted for and improving the living standards of everyone in Britain.

“I remain concerned about changes to the welfare system. The benefit of new measures like the additional £1bn of funding for employment support has not yet been taken into account in modelling the impact of these changes, so I will continue to follow this closely and raise any concerns I have with ministers.”
